THIS is what the logo for the newest council in Somerset will look like.

Somerset West and Taunton Council will officially replace Taunton Deane Borough Council and West Somerset Council in April 2019.

As part of the transition process, new branding has been designed for the incoming authority, including a logo and brand new website – at a cost of £54,000.

The logo was presented for final approval at a meeting of the new council’s shadow executive in Williton on Thursday evening (December 6).

Councillor Roger Habgood praised the design, saying: “This has been a good piece of work from our officers – they have put an enormous amount of effort into this.”

A total of £54,000 was committed in the new council’s business case to designing and implementing its branding – including the logo, signage and livery for all its vehicles.

A further £80,000 has been dedicated to providing a new website for the public and a new staff intranet.

A spokesperson said: “The branding was produced in-house by the council design team.

“It adheres to new regulations on accessibility standards which came in to force in September.

“The choice of font ensures it can be read and reproduced on any platform, device or operating system.

“It will ensure that all our web, social media and printed material have a consistent and modern look and feel.”

The new logo and associated livery will be rolled out in the coming months.

New signage at the new council’s joint headquarters – Deane House in Taunton and West Somerset House in Williton – will be in place by the end of January.
