FORMER County Gazette reporter Mike Ford searched through his photo archive for a trip down Memory Lane.

Mike uncovered these gems, including some of the famous people who visited our patch in the 1970s and 1980s.

Among the leading actors who trod the boards at Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre was Leslie Ash, best known for her portrayal of Debs in TV comedy Men Behaving Badly.

The riverside theatre also welcomed Richard Greene, star of the 1950s TV servies The Adventures of Robin Hood, along with George Sewell, whose credits included Special Branch on TV, and appearances in films such as This Sporting Life and Get Carter.

Penelope Keith, famed for her role as Margot in BBC's The Good Life, who was pictured filming for To The Manor Born in Cricket St Thomas.

For a time Taunton's elegant Georgian terrace The Crescent was turned into a film set for a period drama, although the title escapes Mike.

One of TV's first female newsreaders, Anna Ford dropped by and was faced with a queue of young autograph hunters - Mike believes the photo was taken in Minehead.
