FLOWERS and sympathy cards have been placed at the end of Burnham-on-Sea street as shocked residents react to the news a man died in a fatal crash.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Love Lane and St Peter's Road in Burnham at 4.30pm on Friday (December 14) after a Royal Mail lorry crashed into two pedestrians.
A man in his 50's was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and a woman, sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to Southmead Hospital.
The road was closed until 11pm to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.
A number of residents have placed floral tributes at the end of St Peter's Road to pay tribute to the man, named on the cards as 'Steve'.
One tribute said: "Shock is an understatement.
"A true gentleman, kind, caring. So sadly missed.
"God bless Toby, Sue, Richard, Kadelyn.
"Always in our thoughts.
"Love Katie, Chris, Lucia, Poppy, Cain."

Another said: "You will be missed.
"All our thoughts and prayers are with Sue and family.
"You have been a great friend and it has been a pleasure to have known you.
"Sleep tight mate. Duncan, Chrissy and the boys."
Police are appealing for any witness to the incident to come forward.
A spokesman said: "Were you in Burnham-on-Sea yesterday afternoon?
"Did you witness a red lorry collide with two pedestrians on Love Lane?
"One of the pedestrians tragically died at the scene and we're keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened."
