A MARTIAL arts teacher from Burnham-on-Sea is hosting a new exercise class and is urging older people to get moving to keep healthy.

Cheryl Mountford, 63, teaches Tia Chi and Qigong throughout Somerset and will be leading a new 'Extend, Movement to Music' class for Age UK.

The class is suitable for all older adults, with fun routines and exercises that can be done standing or seated which are great for improving balance, co-ordination and circulation.

Julie Bolton, Age UK Somerset’s class co-ordinator, said: "Being active has a positive effect on health at any age, but amongst older people, doing more can have a huge impact.

"We run over 100 classes across Somerset and participants say it’s a great way to have fun, meet new people and feel fitter."

The class will take place at 2.30pm every Thursday at the Bay Centre in Cassis Close, Burnham-on-Sea and will start and entry costs £4. For details call 01823 345626 or visit www.ageuksomerset.org.uk
