A PLASTIC children's car, a cricket bat and a tyre were among the items collected by volunteers during a beach clean on Berrow Beach.

Forty four volunteers braved the cold and wet weather on Saturday (January 12) to collect waste washed up on Berrow Beach.

A number of bags of plastic waste were collected as well as a number of peculiar items including a plastic garden chair, a sleeping bag and a cricket bat.

Nigel Hoy from The Friends of Berrow Beach said the beach clean was a success.

"We had a good turnout despite the overcast weather," Nigel said.

"A good amount of plastic and other man-made waste was picked up, it was all followed by tea, coffee and cakes in the Berrow church hall.

"Beach cleans are held on the second Saturday of every month and all are welcome to attend."
