A DRIVER has been pulled over and driven away by police on a busy roundabout in Taunton town centre.

Police cars gathered at the roundabout, which joins North Street and Fore Street, at around 3.15pm today (January 14).

A member of the public called police to notify them about a car being driven in a concerning manner. 

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We received a call at around 3.10pm from a member of the public who was concerned about the manner in which a car was being driven. 

"We attended and then the driver was taken to hospital."

One witness to the incident said: "A silver car was driving around the roundabout and police stopped the driver.

"Two police cars were at roundabout between Fore Street, North Street and Hammet Street.

"It happened at around 3.15pm.

"The man was driving a silver car, his car was driven away by police."
