HUNDREDS of cider lovers piled into a Highbridge cider farm to ward off evil spirits to ensure a bumper apple crop.
Nearly 500 people attended the annual wassailing event at Rich’s Cider Farm in Watchfield on Friday (January 18) and watched as Wassail Queen Evie-May was carried shoulder high on a sedan chair to the farm’s apple trees where she placed a slice of toast dipped in cider amongst the branches.
Visitors enjoyed tasting more than 20 ciders and live performances from The Skimmity Hitchers and Bob Darch Music.
A spokesman for Rich’s Cider Farm said:” We had nearly 500 people come this year and everyone really enjoyed the event” the spokesman said.
“We were raising money for St Margaret’s Hospice and for a new defibrillator for the residents of Watchfield.”
