A HIGHBRIDGE school and two businesses have been commended by the fire service for supporting the county's firefighters.
The King Alfred School Academy, Highbridge Caravan Centre and Somerset Worktops and Walrow Kitchens of Highbridge were recently awarded with a Chief Fire Officers Certificate of Appreciation to thank them for releasing on-call firefighters James Leatherby, Robert Brown and Gavin Ward from their employment so they can attend emergency fire calls.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The support of local employers like this is imperative for us to maintain an emergency response for the community.
"We would like to thank Highbridge Caravan Centre, Somerset Worktops and Walrow Kitchens and The King Alfred School again for releasing these firefighters.
"We are currently recruiting - so if any other businesses have staff that could take up the challenge of becoming an on-call firefighter, you could soon be receiving your own certificate."
