TAUNTON Town travel to Salisbury tonight for a match which could prove pivotal in the promotion race.

Following Saturday's 1-1 draw at Wimborne Town, the Peacocks' lead at the top is down to four points ahead of their clash with fourth-placed Salisbury at the Ray Mac (ko 7.45pm).

Taunton are currently four points clear of Metropolitan Police and seven ahead of Weymouth, although those teams have two and three games in hand, respectively.

As for Steve Claridge's Salisbury, they are eight points behind the Peacocks (with two games in hand) after a 4-3 defeat at home to Weymouth on Saturday.

That was the Whites' first league loss since their dramatic collapse away to Taunton in November – Matt Buse's injury-time header capping a comeback 4-3 win for the hosts at the Viridor Stadium.

What's more, Salisbury have not lost at home in the league since a 2-1 reverse to Poole Town in August.

Taunton head of football Rob Dray is expected to have a full squad to select from, Shane White having come through the Wimborne match on his return from a fractured cheekbone.

Andrew Neal and Dan Sullivan have started together up front in the last two matches, with captain Matt Wright on the bench, so it remains to be seen whether Dray decides to utilise Wright's more physical attributes from the start tonight.

Exeter City youngster James Dodd – who came on for the last 10 minutes against Weymouth last month – will supplement the Peacocks squad.

Taunton's other main promotion rivals are also in action tonight – Met Police travelling to Wimborne and Weymouth away to Gosport Borough.

Travelling fans should be aware of the Met Office's yellow weather warning for the South West, with "rain turning to snow, especially on hills, then turning icy".

This could mean longer journey times and icy surfaces – so stay safe!
