TAUNTON Town's head of football Rob Dray said he was 'proud' of his players' performance in their last-gasp 3-2 defeat to Salisbury on Tuesday night.

Bouwe Bosma scored an injury-time winner for the Whites, after the Peacocks had had two men - Ben Adelsbury and Keith Emmerson - sent off, both for second bookings.

Dray told the County Gazette: “I was really proud of our boys and the grit they showed, putting their bodies on the line.

“It’s a privilege to lead these boys, and we will learn from this defeat.

“We deserved something from the game and even with 10 men we would have got something.

“It’s a tough one to take but it’s still all to play for.”

Dray added: “Over the course of the season the refereeing has been pretty good.

“But last night the referee was out of his depth and lost control of the game – I spoke with Steve Claridge [Salisbury’s boss, who was sent from the touchline in the second half] and we both agreed on that.

"[For Adelsbury's red card] the first one was a yellow, the second I'm not sure.

"No-one knew what would be given as a foul or a yellow card; there was a bad tackle on Ollie Chamberlain, and it wasn't even a talking to.

"[For Emmerson] the first one yes, but for the second I felt he was fouled first."

The Peacocks remain top of the league, four points ahead of Metropolitan Police and Weymouth, both of whom have games in hand.

"We're still in a great position," Dray said.

"The league is anyone's to win; Weymouth are favourites, as they should be with the size of the club and their resources, but everyone's still chasing us.

"We've got to win on Saturday."

This Saturday sees 10th-placed Swindon Supermarine visit the Viridor Stadium for a 3pm kick-off.
