DIGITALLY-MINDED experts took part in an event in Taunton which aims to encourage businesses and individuals to be innovative. Digital Taunton, a new community-driven group which hopes to ensure Taunton becomes a hub of 'digital innovation and collaboration', held its first meeting of the year on February 28.

The event took place at new Taunton business Company Spaces, a hot desk station and coffee shop.

Shane Griffiths, founder of Digital Taunton, hosted the event, with special guests Dave Alexander from Bridgwater & Taunton College, and Tamsin Hodge, from the UK Hydrographic Office.

Mr Griffiths said: “We couldn’t have hoped for a better reaction to the launch of Digital Taunton and would like to say a huge thank you to our speakers and everyone who attended.

"Digital Taunton is focused on bringing like-minded people together to grow our digital community and support businesses with highly skilled people and colleges with strong industry links.

"We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next event.”

Mr Alexander gave an overview of the developments in digital training at the college, while Miss Hodge explained how the UKHO uses digital and data skills in its work.

She said: “I was delighted to be asked to speak at the first Digital Taunton meet up, it has been an amazing experience.

"It’s been wonderful sharing the work that we do at the UK Hydrographic Office and I look forward to many more meet ups to come.”

Digital Taunton will be running events throughout the year at the new business hotspot.
