FANS of Batman, Superman and other comic book heroes are getting ready to dust off their capes as Burnham-on-Sea Comic Con returns for a second year.

After a year-long hiatus the event's organiser, Jade Parkes, has announced the event will be back at The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre on August 17 and said it will be bigger and better than ever as a plethora of famous faces are scheduled to appear.

Speaking ahead of the event, Jade said: "I am so excited that Burnham-on-Sea Comic Con is coming back for a second time.

"We have Clem So as one of our guests, who has been in many movies such as Assasins Creed, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who, James Bond Spectre etc and Jon Davey who has been 38 different Doctor Who monsters and we have two more guests who we have yet to announce.

"We also have a very new supportive group called Somerset Cosplayers who attend Comic Cons throughout Somerset and dress up. They bring excitement and fun to every event.

"Angel Effects will be returning also with their props and cosplay and Kingston Exotics will be bringing their reptiles (snakes and lizards) and their owls for show.

"We have a brand new Cosplay Masquerade for 2019.

"The stage will be in use for people dressed up in their costumes and enter a cosplay competition where judges will decide who is the best dressed."

Jade said a number of the traders from the 2017 event will be returning this year and there will be facepainting, Cosplay competitions and Disney's Lightening McQueen from Cars will also be on show.
