AN APPRENTICE barber has won a prestigious award for his work at a Burnham-on-Sea barbershop.
George Goodall, 17, who is an apprentice barber studying at Bridgwater & Taunton College, won the award for 1st Place Level 3 Barber of the Year 2019.
The 17-year-old from Burnham took part in the Bridgwater and Taunton College BarberBash at the MacMillan Theatre in Bridgwater earlier this year where students and industry barbers competed against each other to be in with the chance of winning an award.
Speaking after his receiving his award, George said: “I’m very grateful to have been chosen to receive this award and would like to thank everyone who supported me and model for the evening Zenon.”
George currently works at Lowe’s Barbershop in High Street, Burnham under the watchful eye of trained barber Mike Lowe.
Mr Lowe, who owns Lowe’s Barbershop, praised the teenager for winning the accolade and for his hard during his training at the shop.
He said: “We are extremely proud of George for winning this award, his entry was a great example of his craftsmanship.”
Staff at Bridgwater and Taunton College echoed Mr Lowe’s comments and said George’s work was ‘exceptional.’
A spokesman for the college, said: “We would like to say a big well done to George.
“Your work was at an exceptional standard.”
