A HIGHBRIDGE building which used to be home to the town's library could be turned into flats if plans are approved.
Sedgemoor District Council is seeking planning permission to transform the former Highbridge Library building at Alpha House into two one bedroom apartments.
The former library building in Market Street closed in December 2018 following a consultation by Somerset County Council despite a high-profile community campaign to save it.
In their design and access statement, Sedgemoor District Council, said: "The scheme represents an opportunity to provide housing within Highbridge in line with the aspirations of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
"The proposed development is for two dwellings with associated access, landscaping and amenities. The submitted layout responds to the local housing needs whilst respecting the existing site conditions, and adjoining land users/ residents."
Comments are welcome on the application until March 25.
