AN APPEAL has been launched after a dog's body was found with signs it had been burnt.

The dog was spotted by a member of public on Thursday, March 7, who then informed the authorities.

Sedgemoor District Council sprung into action to find the dog, who was found under the motorway bridge in Dunwear.

David Coles, Sedgemoor Environmental Services, said: "We sent someone out to have a look.

"The dog was found and collected by some of our clean services team. "The dog was scanned for a microchip and we scanned around the area.

"The dog looked like be had been burnt.

"We couldn't find anything at all with the scans.

"If anyone has any information which could help, please call the dog warden."

Mr Coles added the team would be liaising with the RSPCA to further look into the matter.

Anyone with information is asked to call the dog warden on 0300 303 7800.
