STRONG winds have left trees fallen across the county.

Ford Street, in Wellington, on the approach to the Blackdown Hills, was blocked after a tree fell into the road.

Emergency services were called to the scene to deal with the fallen tree, before the road was reopened at around 11.30am (March 10).

Elsewhere in the county, B3151 Lodge Hill in Somerton was closed because of two fallen trees.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Fire control have been busy today with numerous reports of dangerous structures due to the windy conditions.

"Trees blocking roads, power cables down and roof tiles and signs flapping in the wind are all incidents that have been reported today.

"Crews have been working with highways and the police to make properties and roads safe."
