A PERSONAL trainer has handed over a cheque for more than £100 to a group which helps adults with autism and Aspergers to socialise.

Sonny Topham from Burnham-on-Sea started a programme of charity fitness walks last year with the money raised going to local charities and groups.

On Friday (March 8) he handed over a cheque for £120 to ‘Go Socialise’ organiser, Fay Donallen, at one of the club’s regular meetings in the Ritz Social Club.

Sonny said: “The main reasons I started the charity walking club was to raise money for lots of great causes, get people together of all ages/backgrounds and to offer an opportunity for people to get fit and healthy outside, once a week.

“At the end of each month, it is so nice to see the positive impact we have had on whatever charity/cause we have been raising money for.

“I am looking forward to continuing this initiative into the summer months and beyond.”

Go Socialize meets in the Gatsby bar at the social club Burnham-on-Sea on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.

Organiser Fay said: “Sonny collected £120 pounds and we are so grateful for the donation and would like to thank all the walkers. They have helped pay our rent on the room at the Ritz.”
