A POPULAR independent coffee shop has undergone a colourful refurbishment for the first time in three years.

The Coffee Corner Company in Burnham-on-Sea has been transformed with new colourful tables and chairs inside and out and purple walls.

The shop in Abingdon Street is owned by George Eckford and Zena Driver and offers a range of homemade cakes, light bites and breakfasts and lunches which are suitable for vegans and meat eaters alike.

Speaking about the refurbishment, Zena said the new decor has been a hit with customers and staff.

“We took over this shop three years ago as it was but it never felt like it was ours,” Zena said.

“We have now got some lovely old pictures of Burnham-on-Sea, purple walls and we have changed all of the tables and chairs inside and out.

“Now we have put our own stamp on it which is fantastic.

“Customers have been so positive about the changes.

“People have told us that the new decor makes them happy which is great.”

The eatery is one of ten which achieved ‘Plastic Free’ business status this year from Litter Free Coast and Sea Somerset and is a go-to destination for dog owners as it offers pets a wide range of canine friendly treats including Doggy Donuts.

The store also sells a wide range of handmade gifts including fudge, party sets and pottery from Dragonfly Pottery and Glass.

Zena said she hopes to add more items in the future and is excited about the year ahead.

“Business is good at the moment even with the colder weather and winds,” Zena said.

“The refurbishment has gone down really well with our customers and we are so pleased with the result.

“We are looking forward to welcoming customers into the store and are looking forward to the year ahead.

“We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support and we look forward to seeing you all soon."
