IT really was a celebration at the 30th anniversary of the Taunton Gang Show.

As soon as the curtain was pulled back, it was clear that this was going to be a 30th performance to remember. With brilliant choreography and an atmosphere bursting with energy, this years Gang Show is bigger and better than ever.

The show is produced and directed by Dave Mullen, with help from Joanne (Musical Director) and Jenny (Choreographer) as well as the incredible technical crew, marketing team, dressing room helpers and stage crew.

The show began with the song Celebration and continued through a variety of acts including a wonderful version of You’ll never walk Alone while remembering the Hillsborough disaster 30 years on and a brilliant adaptation of Radioactive reminding us of the beauty of our planet.

You are also transported back to an old-time music hall, with a range of songs from your childhood such as Daisy Bell and I’m Henry the Eighth, I Am.

Somerset County Gazette:

There are also a variety of comedic sketches, including a talent show, a sweet shop and seaside landladies – all of whom work in Burnham-on-Sea.

There are also some surprising moments with some fabulous costumes and staging ideas. At one point there are a variety of Dr Who characters river dancing away from some (very realistic) Daleks.

Dinosaurs also grace the stage with appearances from the Flintstones. And yes, it makes you definitely want to Do the Dinosaur.

There is a very busy and energetic film scene with all your favourite movie songs from Toy Story, Shrek and Mamma Mia, as well as an appearance from the Men in Black.

However, my favourite was the clown puppet routine at the end. The clowns were hilarious, and the song was sung beautifully.

Each year, the Gang Show donate to charities and this year was no different with collection buckets for Help the Heroes and Cancer Research UK.

This was a fun-filled Gang Show and a wonderful way to celebrate 30 years. And finally, the finale…well, I’m not going to spoil it for you am I?

The Gang Show runs until April 20. To book tickets visit www.thebrewhouse.net or call 01823 283244.
