A BURNHAM-on-Sea man is set to run the London Marathon later this month in aid of The Grand Appeal.
Freddie Horwood, who regularly attends Burnham-on-Sea’s Park Run, will be running the famous 26.2 mile route on April 28 to raise money for The Grand Appeal, The Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.
Speaking ahead of the race Freddie, said: “This time last year the furthest I’d run was a few miles. The marathon is on my bucket list, but I entered not expecting to get a place as the ballot is very competitive.
“I started going to the 5km Burnham Park Run, and I’ve now completed 25 Park Runs. I’ve gradually clocked up more and more miles through my training programme, which is going really well.
“I’ve done fundraising activities at The Beachcomber in Brean, as well as receiving ‘JustGiving’ donations. My chosen charity is The Grand Appeal, The Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.”
