A HIGHBRIDGE school has issued a warning urging students to 'be alert' after a woman allegedly asked two students to 'take her to hotel'.

The girls, who are students at The King Alfred School, were eating their dinner at The Reeds Arms Wetherspoons pub in Burnham-on-Sea when they were allegedly approached by a woman who asked them to take her to a hotel as she was afraid of her partner.

The students allegedly contacted a parent who went to the pub to deal with the situation.

The school claims the parent felt something suspicious was going on and reported the incident to the police.

Staff at the school, in Marine Drive, posted a warning message to parents and students on Facebook on Thursday (April 25) as they are concerned it could be a ‘possible safeguarding concern.’

A spokesman for The King Alfred School, said: "Our advice would be to our students if approached in such a manner to speak to a member of staff and let them deal with the situation and, as these girls did, let your parents know immediately.

"Do not go off with anyone who tries to enlist you in helping in such a situation."

The Weekly News has contacted The King Alfred School and Avon and Somerset Police for comment.
