THE Colosseum, St Peter's Basilica, the Trevi Fountain... Rome offers a wealth of sightseeing opportunities.

But for one visitor, something else caught his eye - a little mention of Somerset.

Derek Wells, from Glasgow, was in the Italian capital on a short break when he spotted a nice trunk for sale.

Inside the lid, a former owner had written their details down - and it was here that Derek's interest was spiked.

On the trunk, in elegant handwriting, were the words: "Sandra Dorothy White, 25, Farm Road, Weston-S.Mare, Somerset, City of Gloucester Teachers' Training College."

"I am a photographer and spotted it and thought 'wow, there is a story behind that old trunk," Mr Wells explained.

Mr Wells took some snaps of the trunk and sent them to your County Gazette - and now we hope to find the owner...
