A NEW clinic for the treatment of haemorrhoids has opened in Wellington - bringing relief to sufferers.
The new eXroid clinic is situated at Wellington Medical Centre.
It provides electrotherapy treatment for haemorrhoids which leads to a reduced blood supply - thus reducing the size of the haemorrhoid.
According to specialists at the clinic, most patients will only need two 10-15 minute sessions, and there's a high success rate after one.
Consultant colorectal surgeon, Paul Mackey, said, “I have now had the opportunity to treat more than 300 patients suffering with haemorrhoids with the eXroid electrotherapy treatment.
"Admittedly I was somewhat sceptical as to what could realistically be achieved by such a relatively straightforward and practically painless treatment, but the feedback from patients has been absolutely amazing.
"We are not far from eXroid becoming universally the first-line treatment for haemorrhoids and banishing such ineffective treatments such as banding to history."
A spokesman for the clinic said the treatment is non-invasive and has minimal discomfort, meaning patients can return to their normal activities soon after treatment.
Around 8million people in Britain are affected by the condition, which is said to be one of the most 'embarrassing' health complaints.
But ridding yourself of the discomfort will cost you around £1,000.
