A BUSY road was closed in both directions and two men were arrested after police were called to reports of 'loud bangs' in Worle.
Bristol Road was cordoned off near to the town's Lidl store and Worle Station was closed after members of the public reported hearing 'loud bangs' at around 4.20am today (May 14).
Two men in their early 20's have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, said: "The cordon around the roundabout, near to the Summerhouse public house next to Lidl at Worle will now be lifted following the earlier incident.
"A lane in Appletree Court will remain closed an a nearby address will be searched. "This is not being treated as a counter terror incident.
"The response follows reports at about 4.20am today from members of the public who heard loud bangs.
"Shortly afterwards two men in their early 20s were arrested in connection with the incident.
"No one has been injured.
"The Army’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) experts have attended the scene and have stated there is no ongoing risk to the public.
"Our enquiries are continuing and we would like to thank the local community for their patience while we are dealing with this incident."
