RUNNING Forever sent a large contingent up the road to Bridgwater for the popular Bridgwater Bolt 10k on Sunday.

The club’s first man home was Chris Brown, whose 39.51 earned him first place in his category and 10th overall finisher.

Rob Simon (41.02), Simon Denson (41.39) and Caroline Norris (41.53 and 3rd AG) were next home with Tanya Lewis’ 44.20 earning her second in her age grouping.

RFRC’s other finishers were: Simon Rowland (49.01); Lee Derrick (50.08); Sam Wharton (51.21); Lisa Denson (51.22); Mercedes Thorne (53.13); Darren Purchase (55.31); Helen Moffat (55.34); Peter Stretton (56.38); Phil Parsons (58.12); Charlie Sargent (61.07); Rachel Nicholls (62.27); Craig Moore (63.27); Richard Council (64.04); Tracy Marshall (64.20); Carl Moppett (64.50); Cat Gullick (66.08); Rachel Reid (73.08); Gareth Parsons (73.49); Rachel Jones (71.14); Sarah Reed (79.01); and Tracy Yeo (79.31).

Ray Tutton and Lucy Spring were at the beautiful Stourhead estate, where Tutton’s 46.04 10k earned him second place in his age category, with Spring finishing in 1.04.

It was a White Star Running weekend, with RFRC athletes travelling to Dorset for both full and half marathons in the Ox weekend.

Bev Collins and Rob Murr finished in 4.47 and 5.43, respectively, in the full.

In Sunday’s Half, Jamie Hill and Duncan Gordon completed the hilly course in 3.00 with Ali Wasey and Kirsti Nelson taking 3.44.

A trio of runners ran along the Tarka Trail for the local 10K. Goff Welchman, Cathie Welchman and Pat Pike finished in 58.38, 68 minutes and 74 minutes respectively.

It was double bubble for Sarah Holloway and Lisa Windsor on Sunday as they not only ran the Bath 10k but also tackled the 5k challenge, too.

Both ladies finished in 73 minutes for the longer and 33.31 for the shorter distance.

At Minehead 10k, Danny McWilliams completed the course in 53.58.

In the Beer Blazer 10-mile race, Georgina Brice finished in 2.23.

Ben Timpson was at the Wambrook Waddle, crossing the line in 51.57.

Thirty-two took on the local Parkrun at Longrun Meadow including graduates from the beginners’ running group.

FIRST MARATHON: Taunton AC member Morgan Curry

TAUNTON AC’s members have been out and about over a range of distances.

Two headed to the Newport Marathon, Scott Weetch recording 3.38.53, while 18-year-old Morgan Curry completed his first marathon in a time of 3.43.49.

A quartet took part in the Bristol 10k, with Kirstie Booth home in 40.11, Phil Paddick 40.27, Sue England 47.25 and Liz Paddick 1.03.47.

TAC was well represented at the Yeovilton 5k, with Ben Hawkins leading the 10-strong group home in 16.54.

Kate Drew was first lady with 17.48, followed by Jon Gilling (18.03), Andy Staples (18.34), Nick Daniels (18.48), Phil Paddick (19.10), Robin Green (22.01), Suzi Griffiths (25.38), Ursula Green (26.06) and Liz Paddick (31.37).

Yeovil’s ‘Naked Mile’ sees runners register their estimated time and then run ‘naked’ without their watch or phone to keep time.

Nick Daniels was sixth home out of 68 (second vet), but first overall with his predicted time of 5.35 – as he ran 5.34.99!

BOLT: Hydro Harriers runners Andy Phelps, Andy White, Chris Jones, Ian Salter and Brian Stenson in Bridgwater

HYDRO Harriers’ Andy White was the club’s quickest Parkrunner last Saturday, coming home in 20.47, at Burnham-on-Sea.

Meanwhile, Simon Blunt became the weekend’s ‘Tourist’ recording a PB of 32.01 at Tamar Trails.

Rowland Lyons ended a 10-month Barking hiatus, completing a course 100th run in 26 minutes.

Five Hydro Harriers lined up for last Sunday’s Bridgwater Bolt 10k.

Ian Salter was just shy of the ‘magic 40-minute mark’ by six seconds, finishing in an excellent 11th place from 598 runners.

Chris Jones crossed the line in 41.34 (24th), followed by Andy White (43.27, 40th), Brian Stenson (43.52, 50th) and Andy Phelps (01.00.01, 330th).

DUO: Rebecca Davies and Amy Walsh of Wellington Weavers

IN a week when Wellington Weavers Running Club celebrated its 12th anniversary, great results were achieved.

Sunday saw Amy Walsh and Rebecca Davies compete in the Bridgwater Bolt 10k.

In ideal conditions, the sun certainly shone on the Weavers Women – Walsh recorded a great PB of 42.24, finishing as fourth female overall, and Davies finished in 49.43 (10th female).

The start of the anniversary week was filled with other Weavers flying the fox logo high.

Luke Merchant finished a very popular Bristol 10k in a respectable 45.10.

He said “It was great fun with tremendous support.”

Elsewhere, Eliza Brodie finished The Dorset Villages Marathon, her 24th marathon event, and a very happy Louise Lowry finished the scrumpy-fuelled Taunton Ciderthon Half Marathon in 2:24.
