SOMERSET’S mid-summer outdoor arts festival, Somerfest, is on Saturday June 15 from 11am-5pm across the centre of Taunton.

The festival will celebrate and welcome the ICC Cricket World Cup and present a programme of live music, outdoor theatre, dance, circus and acrobatics, aerial trapeze, arts and sports.

There will be free shows and family activities from a wide range of diverse cultures with something for everyone.

There will be lots to explore and discover throughout the six festival locations. In Castle Green, the programme will include the wonderful Rimski on his Bicycle Piano, Brazilian dancers, aerialists Sunken Circus and the enormous participatory Cricket Stilt Act!

On Goodland Garden Green music stage, there will be a fusion of sounds and styles, acoustic folk, indie, pop rock, Reggae, Indian Bangra and Punjabi classics.

Wander through the Goodland Garden Plaza area with an array of stalls, music and shows. Make your way up to North Street, Fore St, High Street and the Orchard Centre to experience a range of performances, musicians and walkabouts.

Enjoy a feast of food and drink from local producers. You will be able to pick up a festival guide from the Taunton Visitor Centre or from one of the festival volunteers and stewards around the different locations on the day.

Associated with the festival, there will be hundreds of children and young people that participate in our annual dance, arts and creative workshops, making flags and banners, and in dance workshops.

There will be performances from commissioned emergent artists and Fuse Streetlinkz Creative Youth from Halcon.

The festival hosts a number of charities and this year will host the Great Somerset Duck race in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Somerfest is commissioned by Somerset West and Taunton Council and is a legacy event started in 2012 with the Cultural Olympics. Somerfest has been organised by Fuse Somerset Outdoor Arts and receives funding from Arts Council England.
