A WELLINGTON based charity has been given lottery funding to host an engaging day.

Dementia charity Reminiscence Learning received £8,050 in funding to hosts of 'A Trip Through The Decades' day in Taunton.

The event is set to take place on June 28 from 11-3pm.

This interactive day for carers, volunteers, health care professionals and the people they care for, will be packed with fun and engaging multi-sensory experiences.

The Trip Through the Decades itself will include iconic songs and dances to take you from 1920s up to 2000s with performances from Wellington Operatic Society, fantastic jazz band Right Side of the Turf and Wellington School to name just a few. There will be lots of opportunities for both active engagement and quiet enjoyment.

A spokesman said: "We are delighted to receive lottery funding for our event– it will make a big difference to the lives of local people with dementia, their families and carers. We know from experience that the event will provide opportunities for meaningful activities and conversations, both in the lead up and long after it has finished. The day will be fun and engaging with tasters, music and dancing to ignite all the senses and create a real party atmosphere.”

The event is free with lunch provided but booking is essential - contact the team at Reminiscence Learning on 01823 668676 or email office@reminiscencelearning.co.uk.
