BRIDGWATER has a new independent authentic Italian cafe to try out.

Giulio Fabiano, who is just 26, has opened up the new establishment, called Made in Italy, in Binford Place.

The cafe opened its doors for the first time on Monday (June 24) and will be serving traditional Italian cuisine, with many of the dishes being made using recipes passed on from Giulio, and his chef Federica's mothers in Italy.

"Our mothers will still phone us most days and make sure we are making the recipes correctly!," says Giulio.

The young chef hails from Manfredonia in Puglia, in the south of Italy and moved to the UK three years ago with a belief there would be the opportunity for a better life in the UK.

He worked extremely hard as a chef in Taunton to save money to open his own business.

"It is a very proud moment to see it open and up and running, now we need to get the word out that we are here," Mr Fabiano said.

"Bridgwater is a growing town and it seemed a good opportunity to open here."

Giulio has been working hard behind the scenes for a month to get the restaurant ready to open.

The restaurant menu includes pizzas, pasta dishes, salads, bruschetta and desserts.

Made in Italy is based at 3 Binford Place, TA6 3NJ is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm.
