THE home of Taunton Town Football Club has a new name, with the unveiling ceremony taking place at the Wordsworth Drive ground this lunchtime.

What was the Viridor Stadium is now the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, as the Peacocks launch a new partnership with the healthcare provider.

Taunton's ground took on the Viridor name in February 2014, with an 18-month package agreed with the recycling and waste management company.

The Peacocks have come a long way since then, with an appearance in the FA Cup first round proper and promotion to Southern League Premier South level.

Chairman Kevin Sturmey told the County Gazette last month: "We've had three cold approaches from companies this year, and I think they will all be coming in at various levels, and we've had the biggest sponsorship deal in my time here – it means you're doing something right, as these companies have people who understand the marketing."

Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988, and provides services for individuals with mental health needs and learning disabilities across the UK.

The site which is now Cygnet Hospital Taunton – Orchard Portman House – was purchased by the company in February 2015, having previously been a nursing home.

Now it offers inpatient services for older adults with mental health problems and for men diagnosed with a learning disability.
