THE 30th anniversary of Burnham-on-Sea twinning with Fritzlar in Germany was celebrated at a special event.

This month members of the Twinning Society in Burnham travelled to Fritzlar where they spent four days being hosted by their German friends.

During the visit the Burgermeister of Fritzlar, Hartmut Spogat and the Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge, Cllr Andy Brewer, exchanged gifts to celebrate the anniversary and a Gindo Bobao tree was planted by the Grey Tower.

The tree represents friendship because of the shape of it’s leaf.

Ladies of the Highbridge U3A also made a wall hanging that was presented to the Fritzlar Partnershaft on the final evening.

Burnham’s U3A Concert Party also attended and gave some superb performances of songs in the Market Square in Fritzlar.

A spokesman for Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, said: "Members of the Twinning Society are very much looking forward to welcoming the Partnershaft to our town’s next summer and have already started to plan the visit."
