Crowds gathered in Blackburn for a special Pakistani horse show and Kabaddi event.

The horse show on the fields at Witton Park on Sunday (July 21) in the town proved to be hugely popular with locals flocking to see the action.

Known as Neza bazi or tent pegging sees Pakistani horsemen show off their equestrian skills.

Later in the day, Kabaddi fans were treated to competition of the contact sport.

Councillor Iftikhar Hussain, “It was a fantastic event with an excellent turn out.

“The Neza Bazi was really popular. The horses and riders were from Birmingham, Blackburn and Bradford. It was really good to see walkers and passers-by enthralled by the action on the day.

“It is the first time we had this in Blackburn and we are all really proud it went well."

The full day event also featured Pothwari Sher (poetry) and a volleyball tournament.

Councillor Hussain added, “I would like thank the Blackburn Kabaddi club and all the volunteers for their assistance throughout the day and also for helping with the clean up at the end.

"This was organised at short notice and we were delighted with the response."
