HORSES have been spotted with travellers who have unlawfully set up camp on playing fields used by a junior football team.
Residents have raised concerns about the encampment at the council-owned site, off Crab Lane.
One member of the public said he spotted around 20 caravans at the site last Monday.
On Thursday, the council said it was ‘going through the process of dealing with’ the encampment.
A spokesman also confirmed officers carried out welfare checks and were going to serve a section 77 notice ordering the group to leave.
But concerns continue to be raised – with a resident saying he has spotted two horses at the site, while claiming the fields have been blighted with horse poo.
The fields are used by Rylands junior section.
