TAUNTON Town host Yeovil Town tonight (ko 7.45pm), for what should be the Peacocks' toughest test of pre-season so far.

Taunton have scored 14 and conceded none in their three friendly matches so far, but it is hard to judge how good Friday night's 7-0 victory over Cheltenham Town was, given that the visitors' squad was made up of 15 to 17-year-olds.

Yeovil, by contrast, are expected to bring their first team squad up to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium under the management of new boss Darren Sarll.

The Glovers have played four pre-season matches so far, beating Stratford Town 2-0 and Hereford 2-1, losing 6-1 to Swansea City and drawing 1-1 at Taunton's fellow Southern League Premier side Dorchester Town last Saturday.

Yeovil fielded six trialists against Dorchester, and the club is clearly in a rebuilding stage after relegation from League Two last season.

With a takeover in the works, and Sarll coming in to replace Neale Marmon, the Glovers are looking to make a fresh start and target promotion from the National League.

As for Taunton, they have their sights set on National League South after coming so close to promotion last season, so it will be interesting to see how these teams looking onwards and upwards fare against each other tonight.

The Peacocks have brought in Naby Diallo, Josh Grant, Jamie Price, Jack Rice, Jamie Short and James Sleaman-Keane over the summer, while Bridgwater & Taunton College prospects Noah Coppin and Luke Manley have both signed for the upcoming campaign.

Given that head of football Rob Dray has tended to favour playing three in defence with wing-backs, it looks like Ryan Brett (who is awaiting the results of a scan on his knee and misses this game), Ollie Chamberlain, Coppin, Diallo, Grant, Andrew Neal, Rice, Short, Dan Sullivan and Matt Wright are competing for five places in the starting line-up.
