SCHOOL children in North Petherton were making a last bid to hit a fundraising target for a new library.
In 1999, the appeal - to raise £17,950 for a new library and community toy library - was just £4,000 shy of the target.
The money would fund an extension as the school faced an increase in numbers, with the roll set to rise from 118 to 135.
Head teacher Mary Harvey said she hoped would be underway in the not-too-distant future.
