A FUN filled day was enjoyed at Dolfor Show and Sports on Saturday.

Held on Dolfor Hall fields by kind permission of Messrs JT Lewis & Co, the successful event had mostly good weather with only a short spell of rain causing everyone to madly sprint for cover!

Show president Mr Ian Jones and his wife, Helen, were kept busy by judging competitions and presenting prizes throughout the show day. Ian drew out the prize winners for the show raffle at the end of the day before giving an enjoyable president’s address to the show.

The produce and craft tent was supported with many great entries and Mr Trevor Lloyd repeated the result of last year’s show by again winning the competitive hanging basket competition with Ivor Jones winning the new potted plant competition.

The sports races had many entries with families and friends supporting all competitors, runners and participants in great spirit with many races requiring several heats due to large numbers of children taking part. The carnival had good entries that included Mr Idris Jones winning the Gorgeous Grandad competition for the second year running!

The show welcomed many new visitors to a variety of attractions which included the ‘Meat the Chef’ competition with Jonathan Rees (of Graig Farm Organics) keeping everyone on their toes during the cookery competition.

The winner of the cook-off was Mrs Linda ‘Ducky’ Williams who narrowly beat Ian Jones when the public votes were counted.

New events at the show included Zorb football and again the dog racing was enjoyed by both the watching crowd and of course the dogs.

The best working tractor competition included a lap of the show ring this year and the day was finished off nicely with a busy evening barbecue.

Dolfor Show Committee would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work in helping, stewarding and judging.

And also the committee says a big thank you to everyone who attended and for making it such a great event.
