Watford claimed their first win of the season with a 3-0 triumph over Coventry City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Head coach Javi Gracia made 11 changes from the side that was beaten by West Ham on Saturday and they put in a strong performance to progress to the third round.

Here's how we rated their performances:

Heurelho Gomes - 7

There was not a great deal for the Brazilian to do on his first game back at Vicarage Road since last season's FA Cup quarter final, but he commanded his area well and looked sharp and alert in a game it would have been easy to lose focus in.

Daryl Janmaat - 8.5

A goal and a clean sheet were Janmaat's reward for a superb all round performance.

He defended solidly, contributed in attack and scored a wonderful strike.

Definitely a performance to threaten Kiko Femenia's place in the starting lineup.

Christian Kabasele - 7

The Belgian looked steady and composed in the centre, dealt with danger well and made one crucial challenge to deny O'Hare late on.

Adrian Mariappa - 7

Took on the captain's responsibilities comfortably and also looked solid at the back.

Had one dodgy moment where he undercooked a pass back to Gomes, but on the whole, played well.

Dimitri Foulquier - 6

A no frills performance from the full-back who looked strong and defended well enough.

Could have perhaps offered slightly more going forward, but not a bad game at all.

Domingos Quina - 6

Looked positive and lively in the first-half, but was cheaply dispossessed several times as the game went on.

A few neat tricks will have endeared him further to the home fans.

Nathaniel Chalobah - 7

A more assured performance than Quina with more precise passing.

An impressive return to the first team.

Roberto Pereyra - 7

Played a different role to his usual out and out attacking game on the wing and adapted well.

He did the less glamorous things with ease and linked play between midfield and attack brilliantly.

Isaac Success - 8

The Nigerian forward loves this competition and excelled on the left wing.

He scored two Carabao Cup goals last season, this time he has turned provider.

The type of performance that begs the question why does he not play like this more often?

Ismaila Sarr - 7

Any Watford fans who weren't excited about their record signing before should be now.

Granted, he still looks a little clumsy and a bit rusty, but the way he took his goal suggests that when he is fully match fit, he will be a real handful.

Danny Welbeck - 7

The former Arsenal man led the line well and caused problems all night.

He will be disappointed not to have scored, but 90 minutes under his belt is definitely a positive.

Substitutes

Tom Dele-Bashiru - 6

Looked lively and like someone who can grow into a decent player.

Unlucky not to score with his first touch.

Adalberto Penaranda - 7

Watford were comfortable when he joined the game, but his fantastic third strike added gloss to a good win.
