A MYSTERIOUS dead animal which is 'at least a foot long' and has 'two rows of jagged teeth' has washed up on Brean Beach.

Cheryl Hingley from Wolverhampton was walking along the beach with her son and her parents on Friday (September 13) when she discovered the 'dried up' animal lying split in half.

She said: "We were walking to the beach in Brean opposite the ice cream parlour and when we entered we found it in two parts dried up on the beach near the wooden posts that stick up in the sand.

"It was really smelly, we were shocked to see it. It was at least a foot long."

Cheryl posted images of the animal on social media in a bid to identify and some locals say they think it is a conger eel but this has not been confirmed.

"People have said it may be a young crocodile or a barracuda but I am not sure," Cheryl said.

"I was sad that it was dead because the sea was so far out."
