AFTER saying no a few times, Richard Johnson finally agreed to audition for Britain’s Got Talent (in a Morrisons car park) with his brother, Adam.

Luckily for us, that means the talented duo will treat us to a show in Yeovil next month.

The pair started singing as teenagers, after they discovered their love for classical music when introduced to the genre by their nan.

Richard said: “Adam and I have spent our while lives together. We always did everything as a pair and we eventually started singing songs in a remote pub in North Wales.

“We were always looking for opportunities but found it hard to get our foot in the door. We had almost given up on singing and went back to our normal jobs – we didn’t pursue it.”

However, one day Richard received a call from Adam, telling him to come down to Morrisons car park – where there was a Britain’s Got Talent audition tent – so they could both spontaneously audition. After a bit of persuading Richard said yes and the brothers sang O Sole Mio together. Two weeks later, they were auditioning in front of Simon Cowell.

“We always have a tendency to think negative so if we didn’t do well we wouldn’t be as disappointed” Richard explained. “So, every time we got though a stage, it was pretty crazy – we never thought it would happen.

“Britain’s Got Talent has transformed our lives, there have been so many highs and so many great opportunities. We also get on so well and spend so much time together which is great, we both feel so privileged and so lucky.”

Richard and Adam both get along well, and they have a lot of respect for each other.

Richard said: “A week later we were signed to Simon Cowell’s label and had a number one album – it was the longest running number one since Adele’s in 2011, which was amazing. We have had three consecutive top ten albums since.”

But Richard still likes to stick to his roots and the pair admitted that The Impossible Dream is still their favourite song.

Richard said: “Even now we are still on a journey – trying to do the best we can and get better at what we do. We can really relate to the words of the song.”

The pair have had many amazing experiences since they were in the final of Britain’s Got Talent. They were once singing at a hotel in London and they met Tom Jones after the set, who commented on their great singing ability.

Last week, the pair went back to their roots to perform on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions. Richard explained that this was immense – with 8,000 people in Wembley.

Richard added: “We have performed with Little Mix, performed at the London Palladium with Bradley Walsh and on cruise ships – we have been so lucky.

“I think our best moment has been performing at the London Palladium, some of the biggest names have performed there. Even looking at the stage floor, we were thinking ‘How weird is this?’ It was very surreal.”

The Greatest Songman tour starts from October 3, the date they visit Westlands in Yeovil. They are very excited about the start of the tour, which will include some songs from The Greatest Showman, songs from Les Misérables and of course, The Impossible Dream.

Richard said: “This year we have gone even bigger and better, we have matured, have more experience, our singing has improved, and we’ve even improved the lighting and sound.

“I can’t wait to get out there on our own tour. It is amazing to think people have brought tickets to see us – there’s nothing like it. It is what we live for, it means to so much to us to sing for our fans.

“We still love it and I wouldn’t change my job for the world. I love having a job that I enjoy doing 24 hours a day, it’s what we live for and I don’t think that feeling will ever pass.”
