A HOMELESS man jailed for sitting on the ground was arrested for the same offence shortly after being released from prison.

Haydon Mark Baker, 34, who was staying at homeless charity Arc's Lindley House hostel, was spotted sitting on the pavement "in a position to beg or gather alms, harassing members of the public by asking for money".

Taunton Magistrates' Court heard that Baker was banned from doing so under a Criminal Behaviour Order.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £104 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge.

There was no order for costs due to Baker's lack of means.
