THE tragic tale of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers will be given a fresh-take beneath the moonlight on Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier next month.

Dance Dynamic Weston is a new season of spectacular international dance being presented by North Somerset’s pioneering arts organisation Theatre Orchard at a number of venues in the seaside resort.

The Grand Pier’s Regency Suite will host Juliet and Romeo, when two dancers from Lost Dog will perform within a contained floor space surrounded by the audience, to create an intimate experience.

The event is a twist on the traditional tale. In this version, the love-struck couple didn’t die in a tragic misunderstanding, they actually grew up and went on to live happily ever after – or at least, they lived.

Now they are in their forties and at least one of them is in the grips of a mid-life crisis; they feel mocked by their teenage selves and haunted by the pressures of being the ‘poster couple’ for romantic love.

With Lost Dog’s blend of dance, theatre and comedy this stunning duet, directed by Olivier Award nominated Ben Duke, is a humorous and heartfelt look at love, loss, longevity and our cultural obsession with youth.

Juliet and Romeo will be at The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare on October 18 at 7:30pm. To book visit www.theatreorchard.org.uk/weston
