A BURNHAM-on-Sea bank has been closed for a second week while maintenance works are carried out.

The Lloyds Bank in High Street was closed last week for 'fumigation works' but bosses said the branch will remain closed until Monday (October 7) while maintenance works are carried out.

Posters have been displayed on the front doors of the branch to inform customers of the closure.

But some customers say they have not been told when the branch will reopen.

A Burnham Lloyds customer, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The bank was closed last week for fumigation works and now it is closed again.

"I have no idea when it will reopen. I regularly use the branch in Burnham as it is one of the only banks we have left in the town.

"The cash machines outside the branch are still on but there is no money in them.

"This must be having a big affect on businesses as they will be unable to cash in their takings."

A spokesman for Lloyds Banking Group, said: "We are working hard to finish the maintenance work at the branch and apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.

"We anticipate the branch will reopen on Monday."
