SPOOKY season is upon us and you might be thinking about where you are going to get your pumpkin from.

Sometimes, a supermarket pumpkin just won't do, and luckily for Somerset residents, there are some great places around for you to visit to go and pick your own to really get into the spirit of things.

Here's a few from around the county which offer the service:

  • Thurloxton Farm, Thurloxton, Taunton

Chose your own pumpkin from the 2 and a half acres of fields.

Tickets cost £8.75 - but you only need a ticket if you plan to pick a pumpkin.

There's also a carving barn and lots of fun and games available.

Open on October 19, 20, 22, 24, 26-31 from 10am until 4pm.

  • Charlton Orchards, Creech St Michael

Halloween festivities begin on October 19th at the annual Apple Day.

Pick-your-own will run until October 31 - availability allowing.

Prices vary depending on size (50p-£2 approx).

Open Monday-Friday from 9am until 5pm, and 10am-5pm on Saturdays, closed on Sunday.

  • Schmooks Pumpkin Patch - Ilminster

Running for the first time ever this year, you'll find the patch at the Longforward Lane/Park Lane junction in Kingstone, Ilminster.

Open from October 19 from 10am until 4pm.

No tickets are needed - you just pay for the pumpkin you pick.

  • Farrington's Farm Shop - Farrington Gurney

The pumpkin festival runs until October 31 from 10am until 4pm.

The field is free to enter, you pay for each pumpkin you pick.

Pumpkin activity pass is available for £4 which includes carving, story time and a movie.
