TAUNTON Town head of football Rob Dray says tonight's crunch clash between his side and Truro City "feels like a derby", despite the 125-mile distance between them.

The Peacocks are sixth in the BetVictor Southern League Premier South standings, with Truro sitting second, going into the match at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium (ko 7.45pm).

The visitors are unbeaten in their last eight league fixtures, with the home side having only lost one of their last 11.

That defeat came at Salisbury last Tuesday, with Taunton bouncing back to beat Walton Casuals 5-1 on Saturday.

Looking ahead to tonight's game, Dray told the County Gazette: "It is a massive test for us, and give us a real idea of where we are.

"There's a lot of familiarity there – it feels like a derby.

"Some of our players will want to prove a point having left Truro, but I will pick a team to win the game."

There are seven points between the teams as things stand, but Dray is not too concerned by that gap.

"You can't pay too much attention to the league at the moment," he said.

"If it was the end of January then maybe it's different.

"You look at the results in this league, and two wins can change everything for a team.

"The pitch will be immaculate tonight, and if we have a big, noisy crowd under the lights, then that's massive for us.

"We have a fully fit squad now, and we're in a good place."

The only expected absentee for Taunton is attacking midfielder Zac Smith (ankle injury), with centre-backs Ben Adelsbury and Nick Grimes back at full fitness after coming through 90 minutes on Saturday.
