FC CASTLEMOAT, the Invest SouthWest Taunton Saturday League Division 1 frontrunners, recorded a fifth straight league victory after an empathic performance at Watchet Town Reserves, writes Matt Whelan.

They blitzed their opponents 7-1 to boost their goals tally to 31 from their last four games in all competitions.

Moat stay top of the table on goal difference, ahead of Westonzoyland who won 2-1 against rivals Creech Cougars.

Calum Butt and Matt Evans struck for Zoyland to move three points clear of Cougars, who fell to a second straight defeat despite Dave Anthony’s goal.

Stogursey are still seeking their first win of the campaign after a 2-2 draw against Redgate.

George Spataru and Jamie Close both converted for Stogursey, while Mark Witchell and Brendan O’Grady levelled the score for Redgate.

In Division 2, Staplegrove Crusaders squandered the opportunity to go top as they were held 2-2 at home by Bridgwater Grasshoppers.

Kieran Biggs and Callum Hardy netted for Crusaders, who trail leaders Wellington A by one point; Luke Lawrence’s double for Grasshoppers takes his total to seven from eight games.

Porlock bulldozed their way to a third league success in four outings, hammering hosts Bridgwater & Albion 7-0.

Danny Wilson (2), Jay Darrel (2), Chris Barrett, Matt Knowles and Steven Sully all delivered for Porlock, who climb up to fifth place.

Bridgwater Sports remain only one of two unbeaten sides in the division, after their convincing 5-0 triumph over Norton Fitzwarren gave them a hat-trick of league wins.

Jamie Evans (2), Kieran Marks, Szack Lloyd and Piers Govier were all on the scoresheet for Sports.

White Eagles leapt above opponents Middlezoy Rovers Athletic after an exciting 5-3 win, courtesy of goals from Radu Bogdan Albei (2), Artur Jacaszek (2) and Damian Polczynski.

Staplegrove Spartans continue to dominate Division 3, with their 8-1 demolition of Galmington Reserves bringing their goals tally to 66 in eight games.

Alec Jones netted a hat-trick here, with Lewis Coward, Mike Kearley, Terry Gibbs, Gary Mckiernan and Jay Dehaan joining the fun.

Norton Fitzwarren Reserves secured their first win of the season by beating Bridgwater & Albion Reserves 4-1.

New signing Josh Moore hit a double, with Joe Greenwood and Michael Damen also on target.

In the first round of the League Knockout Cup, White Eagles defeated Division 2 companions Minehead AFC Reserves 3-1 thanks to goals from Damian Polcynski (2) and Postolache Claudiu-Mihaita.

Galmington advanced to the second round of the Rowbarton Charity Cup as they overcame Division 2 leaders Wellington A 4-3, with Henry Graydon, Patrick Price, David Bond and Adam Male scoring for the victors.

Wembdon Reserves also progressed, as they cruised past FC Castlemoat Reserves 4-1.
