THE Friends of Apex Park have teamed up with the family of a dog trainer to try and raise £3,000 to fund a Bark Park and memorial plaque in his memory.

Roy started training dogs at Apex Park in the 1970’s and trained them up until 2017 when he had to give up due to ill health.

Roy died earlier this year and his family want to buy a Bark Park for the park so all dog owners can train their dogs for free.

A spokesman for Sedgemoor District Council, said: “There is no doubt that Roy helped many local people over the years with socialising and any training their dogs needed.

“He was at Apex every Sunday, come rain or shine, and a lot of people (and dogs) benefited from Roy’s help.

“Sedgemoor District Council will assist with costs and the Friends of Apex are looking at options for grant funding.

“The full cost is approximately £10,000.”
