THE Annual Tree of Light appeal will be launched again at the end of November.

The Rotary Club of Oswestry will be launching their special appeal on Friday, November 29 – the same day as the Christmas lights switch on which is taking place at 5pm in Festival Square.

The appeal – which sees members of the public commemorating significant events in their lives by lighting a bulb on the Tree of Light – has been supporting local charities for more than 20 years.

After many years of valued support by Sainsbury’s, the Tree of Light will this year, by arrangement with Oswestry Town Council, be sited on Oswestry’s Festival Square, where the Book of Remembrance will be kept throughout the appeal.

Donors may mark happy events such as a marriage, the safe birth of a child or even a graduation or new job to share their good fortune with others.

Many donors take the opportunity to mark the sad passing of a loved one by recording their name in the Book of Remembrance.

Everyone is invited to come along to the Switch On, join in the festive singing and get the appeal off to a great start.

To light a bulb on the tree, the Club is asking for a minimum donation of £5.

If you would like to donate to the appeal, you can download a sponsorship form from the Club’s website and return it, together with a cheque.
