‘IT’S very sad that we live in a world where no one can be trusted.’

Those are the words of Candice Marriage who claims she was left ‘very disheartened’ after a parcel containing Christmas presents for her daughter was left in plain sight by an Amazon delivery driver and stolen from outside her home.

The mum-of-one from Highbridge claims she ordered an Xbox One game and an Xbox One controller charger for her 12-year-old daughter last week but while she was out on Sunday (November 17) she received an email from the delivery company showing the parcel had been dumped on her doorstep and partly covered with recycling bin.

The 31-year-old claims when she returned to her home later that day the parcel was gone.

She said: “The parcel would of been able to fit inside the recycling bin so why they didn’t do that around the side of the house I don’t know.

“Upon returning home I saw the parcel was gone and the recycling box was up on one end. was very disheartened and was unsure what Amazon would be able to do about it.

“I was worried that I had lost her presents and wouldn’t be able to replace them. I work hard for my money and the fact someone will just take things from people’s doors is very sad.

“I was also angry with how careless the delivery driver was with my parcel.”

Candice said she had planned to put Christmas decorations up in the front garden of her home but the incident has left her fearful that they could be stolen.

The mum-of-one claims she has contacted Amazon and they agreed to replace two of the items free of charge and said she would urge residents to wait in for deliveries if they are of value.

“I know the person who stole the parcel wouldn’t know they are my daughter’s Christmas presents but that is just it, they don’t know what it is or how important it is,” Candice added.

“It’s very sad that we live in a world where no one can be trusted.”

A spokesperson for Amazon, said: “We have very high standards for our delivery partners and how they serve customers.

“The vast majority of deliveries make it to customers without issue.

“In the rare case something occurs, we work with customers directly to make it right.”
