Wellington 0, Shepton Mallet 5

WELLINGTON’S winless run under Tim Legg goes on, as the Tangerines were well beaten by Shepton Mallet on Saturday.

Manager Legg is essentially working with a new side, after 12 first-teamers followed previous boss Clive Jones out of the door, and they have lost their last six games.

Daryl Charman headed Shepton into the lead shortly after the half-hour mark, and then doubled that advantage just before half-time.

Jack Fillingham scored twice in 15 minutes after the break, to make it 4-0, and substitute Joe Morgan rubbed more salt in the Tangerines’ wounds late on.

Wellington: Tom Welch, Elliot Williams, Jake Horsey, Tom Stone, Josh Pearson (Michael Mullen 30), Ollie Holman, Harry Hamblin (Joe Wylie 52), Glen Wright, George Sinnott, Charlie Dodd (Ian Bellinger 46), Harry Scratchard. Subs not used: Carl Jones, Luke Boyle. Attendance: 52

Now 20th (second from bottom) in the table, Wellington were due to host Street last (Wednesday) night, and they are at home again this Saturday, with 16th-placed Keynsham Town the visitors to North Street (3pm).

BISHOPS Lydeard and Lydeard Reserves scored six goals apiece on Saturday.

The club’s 1st XI were on scintillating form in the First Division of the Western League, travelling to high-flying Wincanton Town (who sat fourth in the standings at kick-off) and dismantling their hosts 6-1.

Ben Hebditch scored two of the goals, with Charlie Wilson, Ryan Brereton, Mark Clunie and Jake Quick netting one each.

Ryan Biss was on target for Wincanton.

The result sees Lydeard rise to 13th in the table - 12 points clear of the bottom two - as they prepare to go to third-placed Radstock Town this coming Saturday (3pm).

The Bishops’ Reserves followed suit in Division 3 of the Somerset County League, beating Nailsea United Reserves 6-2 at Cothelstone Road.

Cahal Robertson opened the scoring on 15 minutes, and Richard Collard headed in for 2-0 on the stroke of half-time.

The visitors pulled one back, but Lydeard continued to play quick passing football, and scored four more through Charlie Purvis, Robertson, Jack Kelly (penalty) and Amauri Ruiz.

Seventh in the table, but only three points off third spot with games in hand on all the sides above them, Lydeard host fourth-placed Combe St Nicholas on Saturday (2pm).
