Bridgwater Town 1, Shepton Mallet 2

SHEPTON Mallet sealed a league double over Bridgwater Town this season, with two second-half goals at Fairfax Park on Saturday.

Having beaten the Robins 1-0 in the reverse fixture, this result sees Shepton leapfrog their hosts into fourth spot - Bridgwater dropping to eighth.

The hosts had won their previous two matches, but the first good chance fell for the away side, with home goalkeeper Jake Viney having to tip an effort around the post.

It was the Robins who went ahead after 19 minutes, though, after a fine passing move.

Sam Towler and Jake Brown combined, finding frontman Jack Taylor, who laid the ball off for Dave O'Hare to finish.

Bridgwater remained 1-0 up at half-time, but they were grateful to Viney as he saved a header following a corner.

The second half saw Shepton dominate possession and the home side look to counter-attack - and it was the visitors who equalised on 68 minutes.

Craig Loxton slid a low ball across the box and Nathan Legge provided the toe-poke finish.

Three minutes later Shepton went ahead, as the hosts failed to clear a corner and Asa White drilled the ball across for Daryl Charman to convert.

Bridgwater introduced Oscar Latas, Harry Horton and Mike Duffy off the bench, but still it was the visitors who came closest to scoring again.

Twice they struck the woodwork, the first effort following a fine Viney save from an overhead kick, while at the other end Latas headed narrowly over from a long Tom Ellis throw.

Bridgwater Town: Jake Viney, Luke Manley, Jake Llewellyn, Ollie Morris, Mark Armstrong, Tom Ellis, Sam Towler (Harry Horton 81), Dave O'Hare (Mike Duffy 85), Jack Taylor, Noah Coppin (Oscar Latas 73), Jake Brown. Subs not used: Finley Wilkinson, Ross McErlain. Attendance: 302

Next up for the Robins is a Les Phillips Cup quarter-final at home to Exmouth Town this Tuesday (7.30pm), and the following Saturday sees them visit Buckland Athletic for their next league match (3pm).
