TAUNTON Town have announced that popular wide player Ross Staley has returned to the club, after two years away in Australia.

The 25-year-old, capable of playing at wing-back or winger, came through the ranks at Bristol Rovers, and ultimately signed for Taunton from Hereford in October 2016.

A versatile player with a knack of grabbing a goal (or three), Staley was heavily involved in the Peacocks side which earned promotion to Southern League Premier level in 2017/18.

He had departed by the time the title was secured, however, as he moved to play and coach in Australia in January 2018, with Rockingham City and Eastern Lions.

Upon his return to the UK, he has agreed a return to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, and could well be in the squad for tomorrow’s home match with Wimborne Town (3pm).
